The 365 Daily Promise Bible
I still have not unearthed my Christian prayer book or daily devotional from the neverending boxes of books. Very frustrating. But today, after buying a pretty skirt on sale my husband and I decided to walk through our new neighborhood mall. We found a Christian bookstore and excitedly went in for a look.
At the register they had a bunch of sale items and I got this Bible/devotional book. It is really neat. There are three readings per day. One from the Old Testament, one from the New Testament, and one from Psalms. For today the readings are Song of Solomon 1:1 - 4:16, 1 Cor.15:12-34, and Ps.140:9-13. There is a box that has a little blurb about 1 Cor.15:22.
I like this book because putting seemingly unrelated scriptures together makes for unusual connections and therefore new insights. It is a neat way to put your daily devotions, Bible readings, and Lectio Divina together. Lectio Divina is Latin for divine reading, spiritual reading, or "holy reading," and represents a traditional Christian practice of prayer and scriptural reading intended to promote communion with God and to increase in the knowledge of God's Word. It is a way of praying with Scripture that calls one to study, ponder, listen and, finally, pray and even sing and rejoice from God's Word, within the soul.
I am very excited to make this interestingly arranged Bible my new daily devotional book.
